First Experience of Death at Work

As my profile states, I am a nurse and although I've only been in the field for about six months, I am in love with it!! This field is very demanding, stressful, but rewarding. Knowing at the end of the day that I was able to make a difference in someone's life makes it all worth it. What I love the most about nursing is how things change everyday. Something new happens everyday and I love that! Unfortunately last night one of my patients passed away. This patient had been in our facility for about two months. I became really close to him. He was alone with out his family all throughout his last days. I can't understand how completely ungrateful some children can be to their parents. How does one leave their loved one to die alone??????? Anyhow, I know that I will witness many deaths throughout my career, but this one was more on a personal level and therefore I wanted to share the experience with you all.
